Bring some colour
And bring some flare
All of you, now be aware
That it’s a night for breaking rules
Stripes with plaid
Paisley, cheap jewels

We’re doing crafts
Making a quilt
With cloth and trim
That some would jilt

Wear it in
Or buy it there
Be loud, be bold
It’s a fashion dare!

Cozette hosted a special Fashion Week Make Sale that encouraged people to rise from the ashes of the ordinary. In collaboration with Evan Biddell’s fashion show after party, the space was transformed into one big fabric explosion. Everyone was encouraged to wear an outfit that mixed colour, pattern, decade and/or gender in a new and interesting way.

I love my job, not only because Trianon is am amazing interior design shop but because I get to wangle my way into chic private parties . . . events where the Veuve never runs dry, the food in shockingly small but delicious and the visual feast is even more satisfying. This evening, I ended up at the opening of Hudson Bay’s newest high end fashion venture, The Room, on the third floor of their flagship Queen-Yonge location.

Dating back to 1937, this renowned high fashion space used to be called The St. Regis Room (back when Simpson’s owned the building) and it was one of the first designer shops in all of Canada. The space is now continuing its legacy, but with a modern makeover by Yabu Pushelberg (arguably the most talented interior design team in Canada today).

Walking around the party, I couldn’t help but feel very young. Most of the people at the event were over the age of fourty, not surprising seeing as $2,400 Balenciaga boots and $7,800 Armani coats were the drug of choice. Even so, I was in fashion heaven. Some of the outfits and personalities I came across were over the top amazing. For a split second, I felt like I was in New York. *Le sigh*

Room 222 took it way back with the Funktion Gallery’s indoor park party, “Funktion Park”. The walls disappeared behind imagery of parks and playgrounds freshly composed by the Funktion crew, transforming room 222 into the outdoor scene of our youth. The sounds and vibe of the park were recreated by Funktion’s own Emcee Rae, who spun via boombox amidst the trees. Old school hip-hop, soul, funk, nearby traffic, birds, bees, squirrels and a little bit of everything else emanated from the ghetto blaster and filled the fresh night air.
